TORADORA LIGHT NOVEL ENDING SERIES

Three volumes of a spin-off light novel series were also created, aptly titled Toradora Spin-off!. The series includes ten novels released between Maand March 10, 2009, published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. Overall, though, this adaptation ends up feeling like an abridged version of the light novel and I only recommend it if you can’t get a hold of the light novel and really want to read those Ami scenes, though even then it’s not like all of those scenes are in the manga so you really are just better off reading the light novel.Toradora! (Japanese: とらドラ!) is a Japanese light novel series by Yuyuko Takemiya, with illustrations by Yasu. I really love how violent that scene is and how they get nose bleeds and show ugly faces so I’m glad that aspect was retained in the manga. One thing I will say is that I am glad they kept the brutality of the fight scene between Sumire and Taiga. As for the rest of the cuts, I understood some of them because they were pretty lengthy conversations in the original, but there were several that cutting diminished the impact of, for example the scene where Kitamura ends up hesitating on submitting his application to be the student council president, after telling Ryuuji he would, and is confronted by Sumire is cut, which does diminish the climax of his journey here. They do run into Ami but it’s on their way back to the house, so we still get Ami talking about issues with her modelling work and she’s still present for the dyeing of Kitamura’s hair but it’s a shame they cut out the rest of that part. The manga cuts out a lot, but most importantly in my opinion, it cuts out Yasuko kicking the kids out of the house, them going to Minori’s cafe, and hanging out with Ami afterwards. I mean, the anime has fantastic voice acting and animation that really heighten the story, but the light novel has more Ami scenes so it’s a tie for me. I don’t know if I prefer the light novel or anime for this version. Otherwise, it follows the light novel very closely. There are so many lines in the light novel that I would have loved to hear Eri Kitamura voice so it’s a shame they were cut. This means that she is also present for the scene where Yasuko forces Kitamura to dye his hair black. This is a shame because Ami’s hilarious in this part in the light novel, and she mentions how her work isn’t going so well and how part of that is due to the months she took off due to the stalker which I thought was a nice touch. In the anime, this is changed so that they don’t go to the cafe and the three of them just go to a batting centre. In the light novel, after Kitamura’s first night staying over and Yasuko kicking the kids out of the house to enjoy some sleep, they go to the cafe Minori works at and run into Ami and the four of them hang out. Thus this volume is adapted in episodes 15 & 16 of the anime. Volume 2 of the light novels did have a short story about the “Palmtop Tiger of Happiness” but the episode is nothing like the short story.

I still enjoyed the overall, and I loved a lot of Ami’s scenes in it but I don’t think that it was as interesting as the other volumes in the series so far.Īs far as I can tell, episode 14 is either anime original or adapted from a short story that I haven’t read yet. However, I don’t really like Kitamura and some of his actions here really annoyed me, especially towards the end of the volume, even though I understood them. On the one hand, I like that it explores Kitamura and gives him a lot more flaws and makes him a more well-rounded character. The next day, he comes to school with his hair bleached, and it’s revealed that he quit the student council, and his behaviour has something to do with Sumire, the student council president.
